"Captain Ice"

Silent but deadly!

Venus Bernal is gone and it's over for UST.

Wait... Think again!

Aiza Maizo is out to prove you all wrong. She maybe underrated as what some folks would describe her presence but you should know that this gal is just a silent operator. She has once made the top lists of the best scorers and best blockers in the UAAP Volleyball tournament.

Maizo is a southpaw. So better be ready to defend because a southpaw can be a deadly threat. She can bury you down when she winds up for a kill. This hard hitting captain has so much to offer- and you haven't seen more yet.

Brick by brick she's building the empire of University of Sto. Tomas Tigresses that whoever will try to blight, better have a second thought. Just like a timed bomb- she can explode when you least expect.

Roar Captain, roar!

SKETCHPAD

It's Quarterfinals folks! Your team has come this far. They must stay focus and determine if they want to get that championship.

Below are my personal insights. Take it or leave. It's up to you.

ADAMSON UNIVERSITY LADY FALCONS
- More set variations from Joan Botor-Carpio.
- make Nerissa Bautista a steady threat.
- more quicks from Sang Laguilles.
- floor defense is necessary.

FAR EASTERN UNIVERSITY LADY TAMS
- Mayette Carolino must stay consistent on floor defense. More setplays for her.
- make the most of Tina Salak's excellent sets.
- power control from Cherry May Vivas.
- don't be overconfident when leading the scoreboard.
- Macaila Morada, Shaira Gonzales and Rachel Daquis must stay deadly in offense.

SAN SEBASTIAN COLLEGE LADY STAGS
- do not rely too much on Jeng Bualee.
- Suzanne Roces must step up.
- Laurence Latigay and Sasa Devanadera must stay on target.

UNIVERSITY OF STO. TOMAS LADY TIGRESSES
- improve reception.
- capitalize on Michelle Carolino.
- give Aiza Maizo more plays.
- Rhea Dimaculangan must stay in shape.
- maximize Mary Jean Balse.

Here you go. I hope it helps. Goodluck gals!

On Focus: IT'S ADAMSON!

Pau Soriano made a powerful kill as Adamson University Lady Falcons rallied from a 3-point deficit in the 5th set to dump Ateneo De Manila University Lady Blue Eagles, 23-25, 25-18, 26-24, 20-25, 15-11, in their sudden-death playoff sunday.

MVP Nerissa Bautista had 26 points including 20 kills and Sang Laguilles fired 17 hits to lead Adamson spoil the 11-7 advantage of the Lady Eagles in the final set and clinch the last quarterfinals berth.

Ateneo seemed to have it going on their way as they won the first set but fumbled in the next two canto and has to force a final set.

Thai guest player Keawbundit Sontaya was formidable with 24 hits to lead Ateneo. Rosario Soriano has 20 points including 15 attacks.

It was the most important win for Adamson as they restore their hopes for defending the crown. They will join Far Eastern University, University of Sto. Tomas, San Sebastian College and the two provincial teams- St. La Salle-Bacolod and San Jose Recoletos in the single round robin quarterfinals.

Pau Soriano and Jill Gustilo had 13 points apiece for Adamson.
