Why Take Drugs if You Can Play Volleyball?

It has been recorded that in the Philippines, drug abuse is a common, topnotch social problem. It s a disease with no cure. It s sad to know that its very victims are the youth, the said hope of the fatherland stated by the Filipinos national hero, Dr. Jose P. Rizal.

Imagine, when a young girl, 14 years of age, takes on drugs? What will be the future of her? There will be nothing left. Her life will become miserable, pathetic and violent. Because, as we know, metamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu and marijuana- the main predators in the Philippines- can cause psychotic disorders which will eventually lead to self-destruction.

Not only the victim will be harmed, but the people around her, the friends, the family who care.
The family, as the foundation of the society has the great influence to the youth. Let us encourage them to fight against it, to shun away from drug abuse.

Why take on drugs when you can play volleyball? Let us remind them.

Sports is a worthwhile activity- like volleyball. It enhances ourselves, physically and mentally. It swings us away from loneliness and depression which are the common denominators of drug abuse. Encourage our youth to engage in volleyball. They can meet new friends, build confidence and can make a difference for a brighter future- away from the annihilation of the illegal drugs!

Let us unite to save our youth. Stop drug abuse. Play volleyball!

2010 UAAP WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL SEASON 72 HARDCOURT BEAUTIES

The 2010 UAAP Season 72 Women s Volleyball is over. University Sto. Tomas Tigresses has captured the crown. My favorite team, De La Salle University Lady Spikers placed 2nd. It s an unfortunate event, at least for me and all DLSU fans, but I still salute them for giving us a great season. No bitter times, animo!
Now, the season is over, may I remind you again... And again, I have this urge to list the names of the players that- in my own eyes and mind- made an impact.

University of Sto. Tomas Tigresses:

Angeli Tabaquiero, Maika Ortiz, Santiago (i forgot her name; i ve been out of sync lately), Rhea Dimaculangan

DeLa Salle University Lady Spikers: Stephanie Mercado, Cha Cruz, Jacq Alarca, Melissa Gohing and Joanne Siy

Ateneo de Manila University Lady Blue Eagles: Bea Pascual, Gretchen Ho, Dzi Gervacio, Kara Acevedo, Jam Ferrer and Fille Cainglet

Adamson University Lady Falcons: Angela Benting, Lizlee Gata, Pau Soriano and Jill Gustilo

Far Eastern University: Cherry Vivas, Shaira Gonzales, Monique Tiangco and Linor Jose

University of the East Lady Warriors: Dawis, Rosale (I forgot the names, again...)

University of the Philippines Lady Maroons: South Ramos

National University Lady Bulldogs: give me a name, come on! It s on the tip of my tongue

There they go. Pardon me, I can t stop talking about Women's volleyball!

UAAP SEASON 72 SEMIS

It's been a while since i've posted here... Now, obviously i'm posting... Hehe...

The UAAP Season 72 Women's Volleyball Tournament is at its Seifinal round: De La Salle University Lady Spikers, the legue-leader, will face Adamson University Lady Falcons. While 2nd seed University of Sto. Tomas Tigresses will duel Ateneo De Manila University Lady Blue Eagles.

As I write this post, De La Salle and UST had drew first blood against their respective opponents.

DLSU v.s. ADAMSON

DLSU, with a 13-1 win-loss card entering the Semis, is sure to be heavily favored over Adamson which showed unstable performances during the eliminations. With firepowers like Stephanie Mercado, Jacq Alarca, Melissa Gohing and Cha Cruz along with super rookies- Siy and Maraño, the Lady Spikers are out to prove that they are invincible.

But, known for their "never-say-die" attitude, Adamson Lady Falcons will sure to unload another surprise attacks with Angela Benting and Jill Gustilo on the front alongside with Pau Soriano.

UST v.s. ATENEO

UST is a common candidate every season. With Angeli back on the roster, they are stronger. The surprising side,however, Ateneo is on the conquest. Not getting into the playoffs for the last tours, the Lady Eagles came out strong and more determined.

Fille Cainglet has improved a lot. Gretchen Ho, Dzi Gervacio and Bea Pascual unloaded "astig" performance to lead Ateneo on its stint. Now, UST will have to prepare more than they should be.

The war for supremacy is at hand!

UST PORTAL: Ma. Angeli Tabaquiero The Return of the Comeback

I watched a game between DLSU and UST in youtube yesterday. I cant remember really what's the date of the match.

I saw Angeli Tabaquiero smashing those spikes and the crowd kept on roaring, I mean the UST fans of course. Even De La Salle won that match (ouch! Michelle Datuin, i'll miss you...)

Well, i'm not really a Tigresses fanatic but I do like them. And I was so excited when I heard, I mean I read in the internet that Miss Tabaquiero, (ehem! I love her smile actually) will be seeing action in the UAAP. I hope DLSU-UST rivalry will rekindle once more.

One more pepz... Does it suits her to be called "Miss Turbulence"? Haha.

UAAP Women's Volleyball CAN'T WAIT TO WATCH!

It's August. And i'm beginning to feel anxious of waiting. I can't wait to see De La Salle University Lady Spikers in the hardcourt! How I miss to see those gorgeous ladies in green and white uniforms digging, tumbling, and spiking. I was just so sad to know that Michelle Datuin will not be playing this season 72. Ouch! But still, DLSU will be my apple of the eye.

And of course, I can't wait to see every teams. I hope this will be a better season. I mean more exciting and I hope and wish that all teams will give their best shots.

Bring out the ANIMO!
